with seven-goal win"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Gateshead Ladies manager Simon Johnson was \u2018over the moon\u2019 with his side\u2019s 7-3 win at Gateshead Leam Rangers Women on Sunday.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Heed found their rhythm following two defeats in a row, putting their fellow title contenders away in style with a six-goal second half display.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m over the moon,\u201d said Johnson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always good to get three points on the board, especially when we\u2019ve had a sticky patch and have had to weather the storm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was pleased with the performance all round in terms of what we want to do in the final third, we created loads of chances and we scored goals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been tough and I think it\u2019s the first time where we\u2019ve had a couple of defeats, because the team last year were used to winning every week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s credit to the attitude and resilience of the group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe worked really hard in Tuesday\u2019s training session to implement that on a Sunday and we\u2019re now starting to take the opportunities we\u2019re creating and show that ruthlessness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Johnson\u2019s side found themselves a goal down in the first half, before Montserrat Lomeli\u2019s leveller ensured the honours were even at the break, before six second half goals blew Leam Rangers away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wasn\u2019t too concerned when we conceded. because it was pretty much the run of the play,\u201d revealed Johnson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew we would get chances and we could have even went into half time two or three one up, though equally they had some key chances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt half time we addressed how we could be smarter and set traps in how we wanted to press, especially in letting them play out and then pressing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the second half we did that really well and the front three worked on letting them play that first pass out and then working hard, backed up by central midfielders and full backs stepping up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe won the ball back for the last goal because we pressed high, they\u2019ve made a mistake and we\u2019ve capitalised.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat 15 minutes at half time was good for us, and ultimately won us the game.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gateshead Ladies manager Simon Johnson was \u2018over the moon\u2019 with his side\u2019s 7-3 win at Gateshead Leam <\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/gateshead-fc.com\/ladies-johnson-over-the-moon-with-seven-goal-win\/\" class=\"readmore\"> Read More  &raquo;<\/a>","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":2384,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1,19,8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3566","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-all-news-media","category-club-news","category-ladies-team"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.8 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>LADIES | Johnson &#039;over the moon&#039;
