{"id":4975,"date":"2022-01-19T13:39:57","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T13:39:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gateshead-fc.com\/?p=4975"},"modified":"2022-01-19T13:40:07","modified_gmt":"2022-01-19T13:40:07","slug":"greenfield-stepping-back-on-the-pitch-was-unbelievable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gateshead-fc.com\/greenfield-stepping-back-on-the-pitch-was-unbelievable\/","title":{"rendered":"Greenfield: Stepping back on the pitch was unbelievable"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Danny Greenfield described the feeling as &#8216;unbelievable&#8217; after returning from injury on Tuesday.<\/h1>\n<p>The midfielder last played in the opening game of the season against Kettering Town in August, and has been fighting to get back fit amidst a number of injury setbacks over the course of the current campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Cedwyn Scott hauled Gateshead level against AFC Telford United on Tuesday night, before Paul Blackett and Macaulay Langstaff fired Gateshead to a third consecutive victory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cIt feels very good,\u201d<\/em> stated Greenfield.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cThe togetherness of this squad is the best I\u2019ve seen, to come back from the early goal says a lot.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cThe atmosphere in the changing room is brilliant, but we know that\u2019s not it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cWe believed today and got the win, however we weren\u2019t at our best at all.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cIt\u2019s excellent to be top of the league but it doesn\u2019t mean anything if we don\u2019t keep playing like we have done &#8211; I think we\u2019ve got many more gears.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cWe need to stick to our principles and just look ahead to the second half of the season now.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The 76th minute marked the return of Greenfield from injury, having been absent since the first day of the campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cIt was unbelievable,\u201d<\/em> he explained.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cAll the hard work I put into the gym are for moments like that &#8211; it was a brilliant feeling.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cIt\u2019s great to be back around a very successful squad, and the fans were outstanding as well.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cThe lads are buzzing because of them, they took us through the game today and gave us that extra bit of confidence.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cPersonally, the plan is to just get more minutes and sharpness, and help the team going into the latter parts of the season.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Mike Williamson\u2019s outfit host Leamington next at The International Stadium on Saturday afternoon, another side which Greenfield believes The Heed can\u2019t underestimate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cTheir league position means nothing,\u201d<\/em> added the midfielder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cThey\u2019re a great side and have already beaten us this season so we\u2019re looking to get one over on them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u201cLike I\u2019ve said previously, if we\u2019re at our levels and intensity then we can beat any team in this league.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Danny Greenfield described the feeling as &#8216;unbelievable&#8217; after returning from injury on Tuesday.
